In this project, the flooring plays an important role in reinforcing that identity. Two porcelain tiles supplied by Italgres come together to create a floor with character: OXFORD 3″x26″, a wood-look porcelain tile used as the foundation of the space, and ENCAUSTIC BLUE MIX DECOR 12″x12″, which introduces color and geometry throughout the main dining areas.

The result shows how different formats, patterns, and finishes can be combined within the same commercial project to visually organize the space and reinforce its interior design.

WOOD-LOOK PORCELAIN TILE IN COMMERCIAL SPACES

One of the main surfaces used throughout the project is OXFORD 3″x26″, a porcelain tile that recreates the appearance of natural wood planks.

Rather than following a traditional linear installation, the elongated pieces are arranged in a pattern that makes the tile format itself part of the flooring design.

This choice is particularly interesting in a restaurant. Wood brings visual warmth and character to an interior, but commercial spaces also require consideration of factors such as constant foot traffic, cleaning, and everyday maintenance.

The second key element is ENCAUSTIC BLUE MIX DECOR 12″x12″, a decorative tile featuring a geometric design in different tones.

Here, its purpose goes far beyond simply adding color.

Instead of covering the entire restaurant with the same pattern, the decorative tile is used in specific areas to create large visual zones within the flooring itself. The transition between the wood-look tile and the geometric design helps define the dining areas without introducing walls or physical divisions.

The wood-look porcelain tile acts as a more neutral surface throughout much of the restaurant, while the decorative porcelain tile draws attention to specific areas.

This type of combination can be used in restaurants, hotels, cafés, boutiques, and other commercial interiors to introduce visual changes and define different areas within open spaces.

It is not always necessary to change materials or introduce architectural divisions: the format, installation pattern, and design of the tile itself can help define each area.
