From Spain to Italy: Inside Italgres’ Journey Through Europe’s Leading Tile Factories

Every year, the city of Bologna becomes the beating heart of the global tile world. Its warm streets, rich history, and irresistible charm set the stage for Cersaie 2025, where creativity, technology, and design come together to shape the future of ceramics.
For over three decades, Italgres has walked these halls — not just to see what’s new, but to feel the pulse of the industry, to discover the stories behind the materials, and to connect with the people who transform clay, minerals, and imagination into true works of art.
The Search for European Tile Excellence
Before arriving in Italy, our journey began in Spain, where we visited nearly 50 tile factories. We explored new collections, touched textures, and watched the birth of ideas that would soon debut in Bologna. It’s always a challenge to choose just a few pieces from thousands — but that’s where our passion lies: finding the tiles that move us, the ones that will bring beauty and meaning to our clients’ spaces.
Among the Spanish highlights, Coverlam / Grespania and Peronda stood out once again. Their collections — White Balance, Lumix, Ribera, and Kaizen — elevate ceramics to a new level, with surface finishes so refined that it’s hard to tell where nature ends and technology begins. The warmth of wood-look tiles, the softness of stone-look porcelain … all captured in porcelain perfection.
We also discovered Kerlux, pioneers in Stone Polymer Composite (SPC) flooring made entirely in Europe — a promising path for high-end design projects that seek both elegance and performance.
Cersaie 2025 Highlights: Inspiration in Bologna
Then came Bologna — a week filled with inspiration. At the Cerdomus showroom, the Miralith series caught our eye: a gentle limestone-look porcelain tile with subtle fossil details, available in an elegant new rectangular 48″x65″ format.
Meanwhile, the Emil / Ergon / Provenza Group hosted an unforgettable evening where their Mapierre 63″x63″ line shone — a soft ivory limestone porcelain tile that feels tailor-made for the light and elegance of South Florida homes.
At Kronos, innovation met artistry. Their Materia line redefines what porcelain design can be — organic, bold, and deeply textured. It’s not just a tile; it’s a design statement.
Later, Coem presented a beautiful interpretation of natural stone. Their latest collections blend soft and strong stone looks in versatile 30″x60″ formats, with delicate decorations that bring depth and movement to every surface. The attention to texture and detail reflects a deep respect for nature, translating stone’s timeless essence into contemporary design.
That same evening, we visited Cooperativa d’Imola, one of Italy’s oldest ceramic manufacturers, founded in the late 1800s. Their showrooms glowed with vibrant colors and elegant concrete-inspired porcelain tiles full of subtle motion. Imola is globally recognized for its through-body porcelain tiles — crafted entirely from specially prepared clays, without surface glazing, resulting in exceptional durability and beauty that runs deep through every piece.
The Return of the Stone Look
If one trend defined Cersaie 2025, it was undoubtedly the return of the stone look — warm, organic, and authentic. From soft limestones to dramatic breccias and travertines, stone-inspired textures ruled every stand. Finishes were more tactile than ever: honed, hammered, sculpted to perfection.
The result? Porcelain tiles that feel alive — that tell the story of the earth itself.
A Lasting Inspiration
This year, we leave Bologna inspired — by the craftsmanship, by the passion, and by the shared belief that great design is not just about surfaces, but about emotions.
Cersaie 2025 was more than a fair — it was a reminder of why we love what we do.
